These terms govern your use of Hosting Garage’s free website checker tools that checks website health. Please read them before using the service.
By using Hosting Garage, you agree to these terms.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User”) and Hosting Garage (“we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of hostinggarage.in. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. Your use of any Hosting Garage tool – including entering a domain name and requesting a diagnostic check – constitutes acceptance of these Terms in full. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service. See our Privacy Policy and Affiliate Disclosure which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Definitions
The following definitions apply throughout these Terms.
Description of the Service
Hosting Garage provides a free website health checker service. Users submit a domain name and receive an automated Diagnostic Report covering one or more of the following infrastructure checks:
The Service is provided free of charge with no registration requirement. Where a result points to a hosting-layer problem, the Service may display independent India hosting benchmark data referenced from Host Latency (hostlatency.com). Hosting Garage does not collect or control that data.
Eligibility and Access
The Service is available to users of all ages. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children as defined under applicable law. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, please use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
By submitting a domain name to any Diagnostic Tool, you represent and warrant that:
(a) you are the registered owner or authorised administrator of the domain; or
(b) you have explicit permission from the domain owner to run infrastructure diagnostics; or
(c) you understand that the Diagnostic Tools query only publicly available data (SSL certificates, DNS records, public HTTP responses) and that such queries are lawful in your jurisdiction.
Hosting Garage does not require proof of domain ownership before running a check. By submitting a domain you accept full responsibility for the appropriateness and legality of that submission.
The Service is available globally. Hosting Garage makes no representation that the Service complies with laws in every jurisdiction. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with the laws of your country or region.
Acceptable Use Policy
Hosting Garage is provided as a free diagnostic tool for legitimate website infrastructure checks. The following sets out what is and is not permitted.
- Checking the SSL certificate of your own website
- Checking DNS propagation after a migration you control
- Diagnosing uptime or speed issues on a site you own or manage
- Checking a client’s website as their authorised technical consultant or agency
- Research and educational purposes using a reasonable number of queries
- Verifying your hosting provider’s performance against published benchmarks
- Single or occasional checks on publicly accessible websites
- Checking a website’s Google Safe Browsing status and security headers for a site you own, manage, or are authorised to assess
- Automated or bulk querying of domains you do not own or manage
- Scraping, crawling, or systematic extraction of Diagnostic Reports or Benchmark Data
- Reselling, republishing, or commercially exploiting Diagnostic Results or Benchmark Data without written permission
- Using the tools to perform reconnaissance on websites without the owner’s consent
- Circumventing rate limits or technical access controls
- Submitting false, fabricated, or malicious domain inputs designed to abuse the Service
- Using the Service to send unsolicited communications or spam
- Interfering with or disrupting the Service infrastructure
- Attempting to reverse-engineer the tool code, methodology, or Benchmark Data collection systems
- Using automated scripts or bots to query the tools without written authorisation
To ensure fair access for all users, our tools enforce a rate limit of 8 requests per minute per IP address. Exceeding this limit will result in a temporary block. Repeated or systematic violations may result in permanent IP-level access restriction without notice.
Hosting Garage reserves the right to immediately suspend or permanently restrict access to the Service for any user who violates this Acceptable Use Policy, without prior notice and without liability. We further reserve the right to pursue legal remedies under applicable law including the Information Technology Act 2000 (India), the Computer Misuse Act (UK), or equivalent legislation in the User’s jurisdiction.
Informational Purpose Only – Not Professional Advice
Hosting Garage Diagnostic Reports are provided for informational and diagnostic purposes only. They do not constitute professional technical advice, IT consultancy, security assessment, legal advice, or financial advice of any kind. Results should not be the sole basis for any technical, business, security, or financial decision. For critical infrastructure decisions, server migrations, security assessments, or any matter with significant business consequences — consult a qualified professional.
In particular, the following apply:
(a) SSL status: A result showing a valid SSL certificate does not constitute a security audit or certification of your website. It confirms only that the public certificate is present, valid at the time of the check, and correctly presented. Other SSL configuration issues beyond the scope of this tool may exist.
(b) DNS health: A result showing DNS records as correctly configured does not guarantee that all DNS propagation is complete for all resolvers or ISPs globally. Results reflect the state at the moment of the check from the queried resolver.
(c) Uptime status: A result showing a website as online or offline reflects a single HTTP request from Mumbai at a single point in time. This is not equivalent to continuous uptime monitoring. A website that passes a single status check may experience downtime seconds later.
(d) Speed scores: TTFB and Core Web Vitals results reflect conditions at the moment of the check and may vary significantly depending on server load, network conditions, time of day, and caching state. A single speed test result does not represent the typical user experience.
(e) Safety and security results : A Safe Browsing result reflects Google’s threat database at the moment of the check – it is not a security audit. Absence of a flag does not certify a site as safe; presence of security headers does not guarantee a secure configuration. See our Methodology page for full details.
Known Tool Limitations
Hosting Garage discloses the following known technical limitations. These do not constitute defects – they are inherent characteristics of how the tools operate. Users should be aware of them when interpreting results.
Scope Checks the certificate presented at the domain root only. Certificates for subdomains, wildcard coverage, or internal services are not assessed.
Point-in-time Results reflect the DNS state at the exact moment of the query. DNS propagation is dynamic and may change within minutes.
Single point One HTTP request from one Mumbai server. Not equivalent to multi-location uptime monitoring.
Variable Speed results are highly variable and depend on server load at the moment of the check. A single result may not represent typical performance.
Benchmark Reference Where hosting benchmark data is shown, it is referenced live from Host Latency and reflects Host Latency’s monitoring window, not data collected by this Service.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, HOSTING GARAGE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: (i) IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT; (ii) WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS; (iii) WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; (iv) WARRANTIES AS TO THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, COMPLETENESS, OR TIMELINESS OF ANY DIAGNOSTIC RESULT, BENCHMARK DATA, OR OTHER CONTENT.
Hosting Garage does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of Diagnostic Reports. Results are generated from automated queries of publicly available data and are subject to the limitations described in Section 6. Results may be inaccurate due to:
(a) brief caching of results for performance;
(b) network conditions between our Mumbai server and the queried domain;
(c) security configurations on the queried domain (e.g. Cloudflare Bot Fight Mode) blocking our queries;
(d) inaccurate or delayed data from third-party APIs (Google PageSpeed, Google DNS, Cloudflare DNS);
(e) temporary server load, maintenance windows, or infrastructure changes at the queried domain;
(f) limitations inherent in single-point-in-time measurements.
Where Diagnostic Results incorporate data from Third-Party Services (including Google PageSpeed Insights API, Google DNS-over-HTTPS, and Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS), Hosting Garage makes no representation as to the accuracy, completeness, or availability of that third-party data. We have no control over and accept no responsibility for any third-party service’s uptime, methodology, or data quality.
The SSL Checker checks only the public certificate presented by the domain at the time of the query. A result showing a valid SSL certificate does not constitute a security audit, penetration test, or vulnerability assessment. Hosting Garage makes no warranty that a website is secure, safe from attack, or compliant with any security standard based on any Diagnostic Report.
Where the Service displays hosting benchmark data referenced from Host Latency, that data reflects Host Latency’s monitoring window and may not represent current provider performance. Hosting Garage does not warrant the accuracy or currency of externally referenced benchmark data.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL HOSTING GARAGE, ITS OPERATOR, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
(a) indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind;
(b) loss of profits, revenue, business, data, goodwill, or anticipated savings;
(c) business interruption or loss arising from reliance on Diagnostic Results;
(d) damages arising from inaccurate or incomplete results including false offline/online status, incorrect SSL validity readings, inaccurate DNS records, or inaccurate speed scores;
(e) damages arising from third-party API failures including Google PageSpeed API unavailability, Google DNS errors, or Cloudflare DNS errors;
(f) damages arising from cached results that do not reflect the current state of a domain’s infrastructure;
(g) damages arising from service unavailability including downtime of hostinggarage.in or its diagnostic tools;
(h) damages arising from reliance on third-party benchmark data displayed on the Service, including data referenced from Host Latency, which may not reflect current hosting provider performance.
This limitation applies regardless of whether such damages were foreseeable and regardless of whether Hosting Garage was advised of the possibility of such damages. This limitation applies to all causes of action including contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, and any other legal theory.
The Service is provided to you free of charge. Under the India Contract Act 1872 and equivalent principles in other jurisdictions, the absence of monetary consideration supports a reduced liability standard. Hosting Garage’s maximum aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to use the Service — which, for the free tools, is zero (₹0).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law including the India Consumer Protection Act 2019 or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction.
Third-Party Services and APIs
Hosting Garage uses third-party services to deliver parts of the Service. By using tools that rely on these services, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
The Website Speed Test uses the Google PageSpeed Insights API operated by Google LLC. When you use the speed test, your domain is sent to Google’s servers. Use of this feature is additionally subject to Google’s APIs Terms of Service. Hosting Garage is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or methodology of Google PageSpeed results.
The Website Checker queries the Google web risk API operated by Google LLC to report whether a submitted domain appears in Google’s threat database. When you run this check, the domain is sent to Google’s servers. Use of this feature is additionally subject to Google’s APIs Terms of Service. Hosting Garage is not responsible for accuracy or completeness of these determinations.
The DNS Checker uses Google DNS (dns.google) and Cloudflare DNS (cloudflare-dns.com) public resolvers for the global propagation panel. These are browser-side calls subject to Google’s Terms of Service and Cloudflare’s Terms of Service respectively.
Hosting benchmark data displayed on the Service is retrieved from the Host Latency embed API (hostlatency.com), an independent India hosting benchmark project. Host Latency collects its data using its own monitoring infrastructure; its methodology and terms are published at hostlatency.com. Hosting Garage does not control or warrant that data.
Service operates on third-party Private server infrastructure located in Mumbai, India (“HG Node”). The availability of that infrastructure directly affects the availability of the Diagnostic Tools.
Reference to any third-party service, hosting provider, or tool does not constitute an endorsement beyond what is explicitly stated. Hosting Garage is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any linked third-party website or service.
Intellectual Property
You may use Diagnostic Results for the following purposes without additional permission: (a) diagnosing and fixing issues on your own website; (b) reporting infrastructure status to your clients as part of legitimate technical work; (c) personal or internal business reference. You may not: (a) resell or commercially exploit Diagnostic Results; (b) represent results as your own proprietary data; (c) use results as the basis for public claims about third parties without independent verification.
Affiliate Relationships and Commercial Content
Pages on this Service may display affiliate links to hosting providers, served via HostLatency’s embed API. These links carry Host Latency’s referral tracking – when you purchase hosting through such a link, Host Latency may earn a referral commission from the hosting provider at no additional cost to you. Hosting Garage holds no direct affiliate accounts with hosting providers.
Affiliate links do not affect diagnostic results, and they do not influence Host Latency’s benchmark measurements or ranking order – those are determined entirely by monitored performance data under Host Latency’s published methodology. For full details see our Affiliate Disclosure, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Privacy and Data Processing
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, your rights under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Key data handling points:
(a) Domain names submitted to tools are not stored permanently in any database;
(b) SSL check tool results may be cached briefly for performance;
(c) The speed test sends your domain to Google’s PageSpeed Insights API;
(d) The DNS checker global propagation panel sends your domain to Google and Cloudflare DNS resolvers via your browser;
(e) Google Analytics may collect browsing data if you have consented via our cookie banner;
(f) the safety check sends your submitted domain to Google’s Web Risk API to determine threat status;
(g) We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
Service Availability – No Uptime Guarantee
Hosting Garage may experience downtime or degraded availability due to:
(a) scheduled or emergency maintenance of hostinggarage.in infrastructure;
(b) downtime of the private server infrastructure in Mumbai (HG Node) that hosts the Service;
(c) WordPress platform updates or plugin conflicts;
(d) unavailability of Third-Party Services including Google PageSpeed API, Google DNS, or Cloudflare DNS;
(e) distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks or security incidents;
(f) force majeure events including natural disasters, government action, or internet infrastructure failures.
Hosting Garage will make commercially reasonable efforts to restore service after any disruption but does not commit to any specific recovery time. We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from service unavailability.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, and without liability to you.
Termination and Suspension of Access
Hosting Garage reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or permanently terminate your access to the Service at any time and without prior notice if:
(a) you breach any provision of these Terms;
(b) you violate the Acceptable Use Policy in Section 4;
(c) your use of the Service causes or threatens harm to the Service, its infrastructure, or other users;
(d) we are required to do so by applicable law or a competent authority;
(e) we determine in our sole discretion that continued access is not in the best interest of the Service.
Termination of access does not affect the accrued rights of either party prior to the date of termination. Sections 5, 7, 8, 10, 15, and 16 of these Terms survive termination.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Hosting Garage, its operator, and any associated contributors from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
(a) your use of or access to the Service;
(b) your violation of any provision of these Terms;
(c) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights or privacy rights;
(d) any claim that your use of the Service caused damage to a third party;
(e) your submission of a domain you were not authorised to query.
This indemnification obligation will survive termination of your use of the Service.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
If you are located outside India, these Terms are still governed by Indian law. However, nothing in these Terms removes your statutory consumer rights under the laws of your own country. EU consumers retain rights under the EU Consumer Rights Directive. UK consumers retain rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. These rights exist in addition to, not instead of, the protections in these Terms.
California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Hosting Garage does not sell personal information. CCPA-specific rights regarding access, deletion, and opt-out are addressed in our Privacy Policy.
General Provisions
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Affiliate Disclosure incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and Hosting Garage regarding the Service and supersede all prior understandings.
No waiver. Failure by Hosting Garage to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or of the right to enforce it subsequently.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. Hosting Garage may assign these Terms in connection with a reorganisation, transfer, or sale of the Service, with notice provided under Section 18.
Changes to These Terms
Hosting Garage reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes we update the “Last reviewed” date at the top of this page. For significant changes — such as expanding permitted data uses, adding new tools, or materially altering liability provisions — we will provide notice via a prominent banner on the site for at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service. We recommend bookmarking this page and reviewing it periodically.
